Grammy-nominated trumpeter Alicia Rau is a successful freelance musician & teaching artist in New York City. She is the bandleader and songwriter of The Rau Collective, alongside bassist Marcus McLaurine, guitarist Adam Lomeo, drummer Bruce Cox, and the late great bari saxophonist Claire Daly. She has worked with an array of entertainers, including Denis Leary, Jimmy Fallon, John Mayer, Michael J. Fox, SNL’s Ana Gasteyer, Grammy-winner Lucy Kalantari, the Diva Jazz Orchestra, The Bogmen, and Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes. Rau has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Anthropology from the University of Iowa, including a semester abroad in Senegal, and has collaborated extensively with the Brooklyn Conservatory, Medgar Evers College, and the New York Public School System.
